Alton Grover Wheeler papers, 1908-1914.

The collection contains photographs, 1910-1914, documenting Alton Grover's time as a Norwich cadet. Subjects of photographs include: the corps of cadets (en masse and individually), winter and summer encampments, parades and formations, Alpha Sigma Pi members, Camp Governor Mead in White River Jct. in 1911, the Vermont state firing range in Northfield, the Norwich University rifle team, President Taft's visit to Montpelier, the Norwich baseball team, cadets at the state fair in White River Jct. in 1910, and construction of a baseball field at Norwich University. There are also papers, 1908-1914, including grade reports, commencement programs, general orders, and rosters.

Alton Wheeler was from Waterbury, VT, and graduated with the Norwich University class of 1914. He was a member of Alpha Sigma Pi fraternity and the rifle team. He also served as editor-in-chief of the Reveille. Following his graduation, Alton Wheeler worked for the Pilgrim Plywood Company in Waterbury until 1962.
